Myrtle II

Project year: 2023 | Location: Redwood City, California

A small addition and renovation.

About The Project

The house sits on a lovely tree-lined street in the Redwood City flats. The original 1940's house had good bones but was in dire need of updating. The compartmentalized public spaces of the house made it hard to entertain and made the house feel cramped and small.

This project added a small entry vestibule onto the front of the house - visitors will no longer enter directly into the living room - and opened up the kitchen to the living room, celebrating how we now live. The modernization of the kitchen and bathroom balance with the more traditional home through careful detailing and selection of materials.
