The project took cues from the original craftsman and added a modern interpretation of that genre to the back of the house.
About The Project
An enlarged gourmet kitchen, new family room and primary suite were added to a small craftsman-style house. The addition is a modern interpretation of the style of the original house, with fine carved wood details and an attention to detail.
The owner was a glass artists, so we created opportunities for him to display his art. The main showcase is a curved display wall with randomly-sized niches which have angled side walls and individual lighting for his pieces. He also created custom light fixtures and laid out the kitchen backsplash tile by tile. Ample light was also part of the solution, with plenty of skylights and a glass block courtyard floor, lighting up the music room below.
