Rossington Architecture

A renovation of an 1860’s San Francisco warehouse. The original 3,200 sq.ft. unit was oddly laid-out, with the entrance sequence taking one through the kitchen, amongst other oddities. The apartment was stripped to the studs and the layout massaged for better flow and a more modern sensibility. The roof was rebuilt and its old-growth lumber was repurposed as interior doors. The rooftop garden was expanded to cover the entire footprint of the apartment and includes a koi pond, bocce court, hot tub and two fire pits.

While the history of the building peeks through in moments such as exposed brick, beams and casement windows, the home is more reflective of the alley’s modern chichi reputation, designed with luxurious spaces for lounging and entertaining.

A spacious great room lets living and dining spaces blend together while custom millwork, concealing built-in storage, keeps this open area from feeling busy and reflects the detailed craftsmanship throughout the home.
